1. Agreement to Terms
By registering for Play Grassroots League (PGL), you agree to comply with these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not participate in PGL.
PGL reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued participation constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Eligibility & Participation
Player Eligibility
- Players must be within the designated age bracket as of September 1st of the current season
- Valid proof of age (birth certificate or ID) is required during registration
- Players can only be registered to one team in PGL per season
- All players must obtain medical clearance confirming fitness to participate in football
Code of Conduct
All participants (players, coaches, parents, officials) must adhere to PGL's Code of Conduct, including:
- Treating all individuals with respect and dignity
- Refraining from abusive language, discrimination, or unsporting behavior
- Following the laws and rules of football
- Accepting decisions made by match officials
- Maintaining appropriate conduct both on and off the pitch
3. Fees, Payments & Refunds
Registration fees and participation fees must be paid according to PGL's published fee schedule. Registration is only confirmed upon successful payment.
Refund Policy
- All registration and participation fees paid are strictly non-refundable.
- No refunds, transfers or credits will be provided once registration has been submitted and payment has been made.
- In the event of player withdrawal, absence, scheduling conflicts or team withdrawal, fees paid will remain non-refundable.
- PGL reserves the right to make adjustments to fixtures, schedules and league operations where necessary.
4. Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk
By participating in PGL, you acknowledge and accept that participation in football involves inherent risks of physical injury, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, concussions, and other injuries.
You assume all risks associated with participation. PGL, its officers, employees, agents, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries, damages, or losses arising from participation in league activities, matches, or events, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Parents/guardians of minor participants must sign appropriate consent and waiver forms acknowledging these risks.
5. Matchday Guidelines
- Matches will follow the official PGL 5v5 format and matchday schedule
- Teams are encouraged to uphold the values of Respect, Commitment and Passion at all times
- Players must wear appropriate football attire including shin guards
- Coaches, players and parents are expected to demonstrate positive sportsmanship and respectful behaviour
- PGL may adjust fixtures or schedules where necessary due to operational or weather considerations
- Repeated misconduct or unsafe behaviour may result in further review by the league organisers
6. Team Requirements
- Each team must register at least one designated team official with PGL prior to the season
- Only registered team officials are permitted to manage and represent teams during match days
- Players should attend matches in appropriate football attire and equipment
- Teams are expected to uphold positive sportsmanship and respectful behaviour
- Coaches and parents should contribute towards a safe and encouraging environment for all players
- Concerns regarding player welfare or safeguarding should be raised with PGL officials where necessary
7. Photography & Media
By participating in Play Grassroots League (PGL), parents/guardians acknowledge that photographs and videos may be taken during league activities and match days.
These materials may be used by PGL for:
- Social media content
- Website features
- Promotional materials
- Marketing campaigns
- League announcements
- Community storytelling purposes
PGL will make reasonable efforts to ensure all content is used respectfully and appropriately.
Parents/guardians who do not wish for their child's images or videos to be used should inform PGL in writing prior to participation.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PGL shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use, arising from participation in the league or access to the website.
9. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from participation in PGL shall be resolved through:
- Good faith discussion between the parties
- Mediation by a neutral PGL official if unresolved
- Binding arbitration or legal proceedings as a last resort
10. Termination
PGL reserves the right to terminate participation or membership for violation of these terms, the Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, or any illegal activities. Termination may be immediate if necessary for safety or welfare reasons.
